Abstract
The article deals with problems of present day Latin American economic growth and unequal wealth and income distribution. The author uses as basis for his analyses the R.Prebish’s theory of the peripheral capitalism because its postulates, as he think, corresponded much better to Latin American reality than the neoclassical economic theories. The evolution of Prebisch’s theoretical views is described as well as the postulates of his own theory, his critical analysis of Marx and neoclassicists’ economic models, market economy, socialism and the so-called “left turn” in Latin America.
