Abstract
The article examines the sources of the Anglo-Argentine argument because of the Falkland Islands (the Malvines Islands) on the basis of the materials of the archives of the Russian observer and analyst of the consul general in Rio de Janeiro Yu.A. Vallenshtein. It is shown that neither the civilized nor the questions of home police, international and financial circumstances did not allow Argentine of the 30th – 40th years of the XIXth century show well-grounded claims concerning the mentioned islands. That’s why its unsuccessful attempt to return the archipelago with the help of the armed forces in April-June of 1982 had the evidently adventurous character.
